Running through the city of Vancouver, Canada is the Fraser River – an 1375km long river discharging approximately 3500m3/s of water into the Pacific Ocean. The Fraser River is known for the fishing of white sturgeon, five species of Pacific salmon as well as steelhead trout. I have fished for salmon in the tributaries of the Fraser, but there is nothing like fishing for the Great White Sturgeon. And Yves Bisson is the Sturgeon Fishing guide that I always fish with.
Just the other day, I was watching the fishing network, and there was Yves Bisson – catching probably the largest sturgeon ever recorded for a television program. Reeled in by former NHL hockey player turned Fishing Celebrity, Brendan Morrison hauled in an 11+ft monster sturgeon.
Yves Bisson is the best sturgeon fishing guide on the planet. This isn’t just my opinion, this is the declaration of many anglers who have had the privilege of catching a monster white sturgeon during an epic trip with Yves on the Fraser River. Every time we go sturgeon fishing, we catch multiple large sturgeon. Yves just knows where to go. Having fished the same waters for the same fish for a couple decades, you tend to know where to go and when.
I’m super excited to return to the Fraser River. This year, I am going in mid April. Although you can catch sturgeon any time of the year, this is a time where the weather has warmed up just a bit and we can enjoy one less layer of clothing.
So, if you haven’t tried sturgeon fishing, it’s a fantastic experience. I highly recommend it. And I recommend Yves Bisson with Sturgeonco.
